Zoe Coste was a young hairdresser in the 1970's when she met Nino Amaddeo, an Italian photographer who was living in Belgium. They were passionate creatives and they decided to combine their creative talents and open up a jewellery and perfume business in a small boutique in Juan-Les-Pins on the French Riviera, which they called 'Reminiscence'.
Initially their new jewellery and perfume House had an appealing bazaar/hippie vibe to it, with music, wonderful smells and exciting jewellery. All the items were handcrafted by local artisans using raw materials collected by Zoe and Nino from around the world. They used their backpacking experiences to bring a little of the exoticism from around the globe to their customers.
Zoe was passionate about designing large, colourful and extravagant pieces, quite often inspired by the East. Her pieces were handcrafted in small editions and are therefore very scarce today. They were worn in the 1980s on the French Haute Couture runways. Musicians, rock stars and actors wore the jewellery on stage as well as in their music videos. Zoe and Nino enjoyed increasing popularity in the 1980's and opened shops in Cannes and Paris. Zoe Coste died in 2007 but the company still exists and is still run by her family.
