Yves Saint Laurent Roger Scemama 1970's Graduated Gold and Reddish-Brown Bead Necklace featuring a graduated vari tone (opaque to translucent) reddish-brown resin bead necklace and mirror finish gold coated beads. The necklace has a S hook clasp and it measures 78cm long with a 3cm long extender and it weighs 96g. The S hook is signed 'YSL' in vertical script and 'FRANCE' on the other side. Commensurate with age, there are a few mottles to the gold coating, but the highly reflective mirror finish on the gold beads disguises these, this is, of course, reflected in the price.

Roger Scemama was a French jewellery designer who worked with Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s, contributing to the brand's jewellery collections during this period. Known for his clean, modern designs, Scemama's work featured geometric shapes, textured finishes, and practical yet stylish closures. His approach to design was more minimalist compared to his contemporaries like Robert Goossens, who favoured more ornate styles.

One of the distinctive features of Scemama's designs was the use of flat S-hook clasps and textured extender links, which added a subtle elegance to his pieces. These elements are characteristic of his style, offering both function and aesthetic appeal.

Scemama's jewelry for Yves Saint Laurent reflects the spirit of the 1970s, with pieces that are both timeless and versatile. Today, his work remains appreciated by collectors for its blend of modernist design and understated luxury.
