Tiffany & Co. 925 Silver Pin for HYATT
Tiffany & Co. 925 Silver Pin for HYATT
Tiffany & Co. 925 Silver Pin for HYATT featuring a small 925 silver corporate pin/badge with the lettering 'HYATT' in the style of the company logo embossed in a smooth silver finish across a matt background. The pin is signed on a smooth silver reverse 'TIFFANY & CO. 925' and it measures 2cm wide, 0.7cm high and it weighs 3.0g.
I am not entirely sure of the history of this pin, but my research has shown that real estate developer Donald Trump converted the Grand Hyatt Hotel to the 1,400 room Grand Hyatt New York between 1978 and 1980, encasing the facade in glass and renovating the interior. This hotel is less than half a mile from 5th Avenue where Tiffany & Co. are based, and The Grand Hyatt Hotel and Tiffany's are both synonymous with New York, so a corporate pin by Tiffany & Co, would seem the perfect choice. The company logo was changed in 1990 to a thin and sleek sans-serif lettering, as it appears on this pin, so we know it was made on or after this date. A lovely and unusual piece for any Tiffany Collector or Grand Hyatt employee.
