RARE Swarovski 1972 Sonntage (Sundays Calendar) Vitrail Medium Paperweight. This beautiful crystal paperweight, weighing an impressive 358.7g and measuring approximately 6cm in diameter, is potentially the first paperweight made by Swarovski.
It was issued and discontinued in 1972 and believed to be made as gifts exclusively for and presented to special Swarovski clients. It has a unique honeycomb pattern with the incredible hues of the vitrail medium only visible from above when looking down. At 45 degree angles, the paperweight is clear, i.e., when viewed from the sides. The underside has a metal disc, which we believe is brass, bearing the 1972 Sundays calendar beneath the months of the year, which are depicted in raised roman numerals.
The word Sonntage at the top and Swarovski at the bottom with a geometric crystal motif. It is in excellent condition and it is an extremely rare limited edition by Swarovski - an absolute must for any paperweight collector, Swarovski fan or an upcoming 50th birthday gift for those born in 1972.
