Qing Dynasty Wood and Jade, Brass Bound, Silk Lined Jewellery Box/Cabinet with Original Lock and Key or Lock Remover. This beautiful jewellery box cabinet from the Qing Dynasty has carved pale jade panels and is brass bound. It is made from wood and has box jointing on the main cabinet. It has two doors each with a carved jade panel, which can be locked with the original key (see pictures). The key or lock remover opens the lock and the two doors open up to reveal 3 silk lined drawers each with double fold away brass handles and there is a further drawer at the bottom of the cabinet, which has a concealed compartment (all the drawers can be removed).
It has carved jade panels at the front and carved jade oval medallions on both sides, as well as the makers plaque on the back, which is numbered 301. It has a carry handle on the top of the cabinet, which is fixed to a Chinese brass open work plaque and it is dated early 1900's. The cabinet is 21.7cm high, 15.5cm wide and 11.9cm deep and it weighs 1.812Kg.
It is rare to find one of these beautiful jewellery boxes with the silk in such pristine condition and even more rare to find one with the original lock as well as the key or lock remover. [p] The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China. It was established in 1636, and ruled China properly from 1644 to 1912. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China.
