D'Orlan 22ct Triple Plated Gold, Enamel and Crystal Owl on Branch Brooch featuring a beautiful owl with blue and green enamel ears, breast and tail feathers, with round orange glass cabochons for his eyes and clear crystals framing his eyes and the edges of his wings. The 22ct Gold triple plated detailing to the feathers on his wings and head are just perfect. He has a rollover clasp and he is signed on the reverse '©D'ORLAN'. He measures 6.7cm high and 3.3cm at his widest point and he weighs 25.8g. A very appealing and collectible brooch.

The Owl lives within the darkness, which includes magic, mystery, and ancient knowledge. Also related to the night is the moon, which owls are also connected to. It becomes a symbol of the feminine and fertility, with the moon's cycles of renewal. Even the mythology relates owl to this wisdom and femininity.

D'Orlan was founded by Maurice Bradden in Toronto, Canada in 1957. In 1984, D'Orlan Jewellers Ltd., formed a partnership with the Nina Ricci enterprises of Paris, France. Together the companies developed a high standard plating process that is highly regarded to include a 22ct triple plated gold finish over a pewter base metal that ensures a consistency of colour. This process has also been incorporated into the Nina Ricci jewellery.
