Admark 12k Gold Filled Multi Gemstone Scarab Beetle Egyptian Revival Brooch featuring six beautifully carved multi gemstone scarabs each bezel set with open backs revealing an 'A' carved into the underside of each scarab. This lovely Egyptian Revival brooch is signed ADMARK and 12K on the back. Founded by Albert Adler in 1945 Admark were renowned for their Queen of the Nile jewellery, they eventually ceased trading in 1986. The brooch has a rollover clasp and is 2.5cm diameter and weighs 4.3g.
In ancient Egyptian religion the scarab was also a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation and protection much used in funerary art. The life of the scarab beetle revolved around the dung balls that the beetles consumed, laid their eggs in, and fed their young represented a cycle of rebirth.
